On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the "II. World Congress of Perinatal Medicine for Developing Countries" and "VIII. National Perinatology Congress" we would like to welcome you in Antalya-Turkey. The aim of the World Association of Perinatal Medicine is to reduce the morbidity and mortality in perinatal medicine in every country. In spite of many efforts in perinatal medicine since many years, the rates of perinatal mortality and morbidity are still very high in the world, especially in developing countries. With the improvement of health care by new technology, the rate of perinatal morbidity and mortality has been reduced to a certain level but still considerable. In contrast to the developed countries, both maternal and perinatal mortality are very high in developing countries because of different problems and lack of improvement in health care, especially antenatal and neonatal care.
Because of these reasons above, the World Association of Perinatal Medicine decided to organize a regular and biannual congress for developing countries alternately beside the biannual regular World Congress of Perinatal Medicine. First one was held in Tuzla - Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 09 - 12 September 2000, which was very successful. Second congress will be held in Antalya on the Mediterranean cost of Turkey on the 01st - 05th October 2002. Therefore we will be discussing and sharing the problems, solutions, standardizations and scientific advances during the II. World Congress of Perinatal Medicine for Developing Countries.
We do invite all of you to this congress to share, to present and to discuss your experiences and ideas to make the perinatal care better in every country in the world, and also to have enjoyable time during the congress in Antalya in the best season. As a congress site, Antalya as a city and also Turkey as a country is very attractive and mixed-culture land in the world. We will try to organize a very successful and enjoyable meeting in Antalya-Turkey.
Lets meet in Antalya-Turkey where the cultures meet during the "II. World Congress of Perinatal Medicine for Developing Countries" and "VIII. National Perinatology Congress".
We would be delighted to have this congress with you.
