Objective: To evaluate a case of central nervous system anomaly diagnosed upon admission to our clinic who was claimed to be normal on second level ultrasound at 20 weeks of gestation.
Case: Alobar holoprosencephaly was diagnosed on ultrasound examination in a case of preterm premature rupture of membranes at 27 weeks of gestation. Postmortem findings confirmed the diagnosis.
Conclusion: The underdiagnosis of obvious intracranial anomalies on ultrasound examination in the presented case points out the need for a certification program about prenatal ultrasound applications.anomalies, especially intracranial, may accompany this malformation.
